Amber Dawn
Deep South Songwriter
A distinctly Gulf Coast attitude, earthy voice, and personal, yet ethereal lyrics collide to create a completely honest sound that she describes as art pop with a Southern edge.
Amber Dawn began writing her own songs after a complex voice injury changed the trajectory of a 15 year career playing covers and, in later years, coaching voice. She has learned to embody the nuanced, darker qualities of her voice through an extensive, intentional recovery process and now describes the experience as vital to her artistry and personal evolution. She primarily performs solo, though she frequently enjoys collaborative projects, including her duo “embr” (alongside Emily Sholes Smith). Backing band members are available on an auxiliary basis to meet the needs of bookings.
Her experience as a creative co-director for a grassroots theatre company and a background in Positive Psychology with an emphasis on wellness for artists contribute to her strong collaborative skills and community-oriented mindset.
